SAP Landscape Transformation: Shaping the Digital Future of Enterprises

2. March 2026

The abbreviation SLT isn’t immediately self-explanatory. “SAP Landscape Transformation” already gives a better idea of the work involved. But what exactly do consultants at cbs do in this field?

The SLT team at cbs ensures the development of efficient and future-proof SAP landscapes within global organizations. Through value-adding and sustainable system landscape transformations and targeted data migrations, our colleagues guide clients on their path of digital change and actively shape it.

Working in SLT means staying at the forefront of innovation, developing and applying new solutions, and supporting companies in their digital transformation journey.

Benjamin Krischer, Global Head of SLT, has over 15 years of experience in this area. He oversees global S/4HANA projects, cloud strategies, carve-outs, and mergers, ensuring companies transform their processes, data, and systems in a sustainable way.

In this interview, Benjamin shares what excites him about working in the SLT team, which skills are crucial, and what vision drives him.

Benjamin, looking back at your years in SLT, what makes this work so special for you?

What fascinates me to this day is the combination of strategic relevance and technical depth. SLT is never just about systems – it’s always about shaping the future viability of companies. Every transformation is unique, and every landscape has its own story. Understanding this complexity, structuring it, and turning it into a feasible strategy and realistic target picture is what makes this work truly exciting. That’s why every day is different: no project is the same, and you immediately see the impact of our work for clients.

What kinds of projects do you typically work on in the SLT team?

We support transformation projects from strategy through process definition to technical implementation. In other words, we’re involved from start to finish – and often beyond, when it comes to continuous improvement. Our work includes system consolidations, process harmonization, standardization, and data migrations in the context of S/4HANA transformations, cloud strategies, and the reorganization of central business functions such as finance.

Additionally, we assist clients with carve-outs, mergers, or global harmonization initiatives, where processes, data, and systems need restructuring. With our standard software, the cbs ET Enterprise Transformer, we implement these transformations both technically and functionally, always aiming for sustainable impact for our clients.

Which skills are particularly valuable for successful SLT projects?

In my view, it’s essential to truly understand complex business-technical challenges and develop solutions that address both processes and systems. Practical experience in data migration, system landscape optimization, or conversions is also highly beneficial.

Equally important is strong communication skills: the ability to explain complex topics so that everyone – clients and team members alike – understands them. A mix of analytical thinking, technical know-how, and curiosity makes someone a perfect fit for the SLT team, providing the ideal foundation for exciting projects and personal growth.

How would you describe the team culture in SLT?

The SLT team culture is very positive: open, collaborative, and performance-oriented. We work closely together, constantly exchange ideas, and benefit greatly from the team’s knowledge and experience. Everyone can take ownership and drive their own initiatives. What I particularly appreciate is the mutual trust and direct, honest communication: problems are addressed, not postponed. This mix of team spirit, transparency, and ambition makes working here motivating and productive.

What is your vision for the future of the SLT team?

I am most motivated by implementing exciting transformation projects with a great team that truly drive our clients forward. We develop new solutions, implement innovations, and achieve measurable results. This is what SLT is all about for me. We aim to redefine standards in SAP transformation and design processes so our clients benefit long-term.

For me, SLT is defined by two things: a team characterized by genuine camaraderie and appreciation, and an exciting area of work where we actively shape the digital future of our clients.

What would you say to someone considering joining the SLT team?

If you’re thinking about joining the SLT team, my advice is simple: do it! You’ll have the chance to develop your skills every day and work on projects that make a real impact – from finance reporting to global harmonization to S/4HANA transformations in the cloud. At the same time, you’ll benefit from an experienced team that shares knowledge, supports you, and gradually gives you responsibility. If you enjoy real innovation, exciting challenges, and visible results, the SLT team offers the perfect environment to grow both professionally and personally.
