And for that reason, both had different database tables. This is the way financial accounting and controlling has been handled at SAP for decades.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, SAP Universal Journal has changed the framework entirely.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thanks to its instigation, all relevant transactions and data can now be found on a single table &#8211; table ACDOCA. They are also made available from there to the following components &#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">General Ledger or Financial Accounting.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asset Accounting.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Material Ledger, and\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Controlling.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In short, the SAP Universal Journal serves as a \u201cprimary source of truth.\u201d It was brought on by SAP\u2019s exclusive HANA technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"the-use-of-sap-universal-journal\"><b>The Use of SAP Universal Journal<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Universal Journal, in essence, is a book of original entries on corporate transactions in Controlling (CO) and Financial Accounting (FI).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It comprises the journal entries brought about by these types of transactions and, therefore, represents a primary source of information on SAP S\/4HANA. The integrity and authenticity of the financial data are guaranteed by the design and architecture of the Journal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And it does so by eliminating reconciliation efforts between CO and FI. In the meantime, the system also ensures that everyone can access the most recent data anytime, anywhere.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The line items are jotted down only once in SAP Universal Journal. It\u2019s NOT integrated with something like a costing-based profitability assessment. However, if it is needed, the latter can be run within the system in parallel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each and every business transaction, both internal and external, are recorded on GL accounts. So, drilling down to similar line items from various reports and key figures can surely be done even if you\u2019re not using the mapping rules.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The chart of accounts will only feature the income statement and balance sheet accounts. It\u2019ll also include the accounts created or managed for secondary costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the ledger entity will provide multi-GAAP reporting capabilities. It may include transactions related to &#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Corrections in migration, and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carrying forward a transaction.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"heading-7\"><\/h3>\n<h2 id=\"features-of-acdoca\"><b>Features of ACDOCA<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some of the common yet important additional features of table ACDOCA may include the following &#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to the specific 999-document line item posting restriction, table BSEG gets aggregated sometimes. However, the same limitation does not exist in the current form of ACDOCA.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fast dimensional reporting is possible in table ACDOCA without making any replication of the available to SAP BW (SAP Business Warehouse).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Table ACDOCA is capable of storing almost every CO internal posting. However, due to its limitations, BSEG can\u2019t keep this information in its database.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, ACDOCA can also store all the carry-forward transaction postings as well as correction line items acquired from migration. Again, table BSEG is unable to do so.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"heading-8\"><\/h2>\n<h2 id=\"universal-journal-whats-available-in-it\"><b>Universal Journal &#8211; What\u2019s Available In It?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thanks to the introduction of the SAP New GL, SAP has made some technical changes within its Universal Journal. These are created to be viewed from the DDIC (Data Dictionary).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"heading-9\"><\/h2>\n<h2 id=\"sap-universal-journal-in-a-nutshell\"><b>SAP Universal Journal &#8211; In A Nutshell<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The newly formed and updated Universal Journal of SAP has the incredible capability of keeping nearly each and every data in a primary location.
