Area of Responsibility: Supply Chain Management

Michael Hertel studied business administration with a focus on logistics, business informatics and marketing at the Bavarian Julius-Maximilians-University in Würzburg. He graduated with the degree of Diplom-Kaufmann in 2003.

After graduating, he started his consulting career as a process consultant in supply chain management in the cbs trainee program in Heidelberg. In the following years, he was responsible for the end-to-end process design for many of our customers in the role of project manager. In his role as program manager, he then also assumed responsibility for large programs in the area of consolidation, harmonization and standardization of global SAP system landscapes. The project methodology m-cbs was significantly developed during the years under his leadership. The m-cbs methodology represents a unique toolset, designed for the multi-layered challenges of enterprise-wide change projects. From 2014 onwards, as Consulting Director, he was responsible for SAP/ERP restructuring and harmonization, IT governance, application strategy and IT program planning. By moving to the Munich location, Michael Hertel was able to actively participate in the establishment and further development of this location.

In 2017, he then took on a challenging and exciting role outside of cbs, spending five years as Global Head of Applications at the technology group Rohde und Schwarz, where he was responsible for the entire application area in the Business & Information Technologies division.

Michael Hertel will now return to cbs as a member of the Executive Board on February 2022 and will initially focus on expanding the Supply Chain Planning business area in the Supply Chain Management division. Here we bring in the expertise of cbs to digitally map adaptive and resilient supply networks for our customers and help to increase their competitiveness with their performance.

Michael Hertel is married and has a daughter. He lives out his love of the mountains and his hometown Munich by skiing and mountain biking. Mountain hiking is also one of his passions.
