Consolidation establishes the basis for a sustainable future
Wacker Neuson SE, an international market leader in the machine-manufacturing industry aims to continue its global expansion. As part of this business strategy, the group’s previously heterogeneous process and system landscape had to undergo a complete transformation. Together with cbs, Wacker Neuson SE successfully standardized the SAP ERP systems within the group in a very short space of time and consolidated them into a standardized and harmonized global business solution. With SAP ERP Powered by SAP HANA as a central, innovative, and company-wide standard enterprise platform, Wacker Neuson is ideally equipped for the future.
The international realignment and standardization of the enterprise structures affects the process and system landscape in particular. Up to now, the group’s IT spanned three locations, each with different SAP ERP systems, structures, and processes. Responsibilities within the organizations were divided among different key user groups, which provided support for different processes according to their units and respective process knowledge.
The interfaces between the backbone systems and subsystems were inconsistent. In such a heterogeneous environment, it was difficult to harmonize and holistically manage business activities within the group. There was also another reason for pursuing a comprehensive transformation and standardization: With its existing infrastructure and system landscape, the company was inadequately equipped to make its IT systems fit for the future. The makeover therefore also provided the basis for future steps forward and developments.
