cbs strengthens digitization portfolio with manufacturing and IoT specialist Trebing + Himstedt

Consultancy for smart factories and smart products complements end-2-end solution offering

Heidelberg, March 30, 2022 – cbs is expanding its portfolio and acquiring the consulting firm Trebing & Himstedt Prozeßautomation GmbH & Co. KG. The successful company (founded in 1992, approx. 60 employees), based in Schwerin, Berlin and Stuttgart, is regarded as a specialist for the digital transformation to smart factories and smart products. To realize its solutions, Trebing + Himstedt uses SAP’s innovation portfolio such as the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and the Process Mining Execution Management System (EMS) from Celonis.

With this acquisition, cbs is sustainably expanding its capabilities in the production environment. The core discipline of logistics production planning and control is joined by process and technology consulting for automated production and machine control; this includes the integration of production control systems (Manufacturing Execution Systems, MES) as well as Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The Heidelberg-based company aims to create a comprehensive digitalization offering for the area of “manufacturing” and “product development” and to support its customers with end-to-end networked, agile and modular solutions and services. CEO Rainer Wittwen: “We are taking up and supporting Trebing + Himstedt’s vision of the Digital Factory, bundling know-how based on over 500 Smart Factory projects, and will use this to develop comprehensive solutions for the industry community.”

The idea is to combine digital end-to-end process solutions (cbs), cloud-based logistics services (leogistics) and smart factory and smart product offerings (T+H) in the future in line with customer requirements and offer them from a single source.

“We are economically successful and want to support our global growth course inorganically. With the purchase of Trebing + Himstedt, we are taking an important step forward in the further development of our complete range of services,” explains cbs Managing Director Stefan Risse. “It has always been clear to us: we only buy solid and independently successful companies that fit in with us and see a clear added value for themselves in the merger. This is the prerequisite for growing together and leveraging synergies together. “

We share a focus on one customer target group: the European world market leaders of the manufacturing industry. The respective markets and customers complement each other ideally. We also share the conviction of delivering excellent quality at eye level.

“We know: Trebing + Himstedt works according to similar principles and with the same conviction. Our visions complement each other, our capabilities interlock. Our customers can look forward to increased value and innovative joint solutions,” adds cbs Managing Director Holger Scheel.

“We were looking for an ally who shares our values and vision in order to shape our vision of smart factories and products. With cbs, we have found this partner and can jointly implement significantly more complex and extensive projects,” says Steffen Himstedt, Managing Director Trebing + Himstedt. “In the discussions, it became very concrete what great potential lies in the bundling of our competencies and what benefits we can leverage for our customers,” adds Stefan Trebing, Managing Director of Trebing + Himstedt. The Trebing + Himstedt brand will continue to exist. The responsibility and development of the business remains in the hands of the company founders and managing directors Stefan Trebing and Steffen Himstedt.
