SFS Group Cuts SAP Order Processing Time by 70% with AI

12. October 2026

Heidelberg, October 13, 2026 – Together with cbs, SFS Group implemented its dirst productive SAP AI use case within just three months. At the same time, the company established the technological foundation required to scale AI applications across the entire group in the future.

To automate order processing, SFS Group relies on cbs AID (Advanced Integration of Documents), a solution that automatically identifies, extracts, and posts incoming customer orders directly into SAP. Employees now only perform the final validation step. As a result, processing time per order was reduced from an average of seven minutes to less than two minutes.

With around 800,000 order line items processed annually, this translates into savings potential of approximately €500,000 per year. In the video, Reto Buchli, Head of Group IT, discusses the business impact of the solution and the collaboration with cbs.

From Fast Value Use Case to AI Transformation

The AI use case was implemented in parallel with SFS Group’s ongoing SAP S/4HANA transformation. For the company, it represents far more than a standalone solution. The successful implementation has created a scalable foundation for intelligent document processing and future AI-driven business processes.

Following the successful pilot at the subsidiary Hoffmann Group, SFS Group is now rolling out the solution to additional business units and divisions. At the same time, the company is identifying and evaluating further use cases to unlock additional productivity and automation potential across the organization.
