InvoiceNow in Singapore

Are You Ready?

What is InvoiceNow?

InvoiceNow is Singapore’s nationwide e-invoicing network introduced in 2019 by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA).

It enables businesses of all sizes to send and receive invoices digitally through a secure, standardised network — helping improve productivity and reduce manual invoice processing.

InvoiceNow operates on the international Peppol e-invoicing standard, allowing invoices to be transmitted directly between different accounting and finance systems — securely, accurately, and without manual re-entry.

Today, more than 60,000 businesses in Singapore are already connected to the InvoiceNow network through approved service providers and Access Points — and adoption continues to grow.

As InvoiceNow expands across industries, cbs Corporate Business Solutions is actively helping businesses understand the requirements, assess readiness, and prepare for adoption — while we work toward becoming an AP and IRSP provider ourselves.

This ensures organisations are not just informed — but practically prepared.

What is the GST InvoiceNow Requirement?

Businesses are required to submit specific invoice data to IRAS using InvoiceNow-Ready solutions connected to the InvoiceNow network.

This requirement covers structured invoice data from common business documents, including:

  • Tax invoices
  • Credit notes
  • Aggregated cash sales
  • Aggregated petty cash purchases

The purpose is to standardise how invoice data is transmitted, improve reporting accuracy, and reduce manual processing across GST submissions.

cbs Corporate Business Solutions is actively helping businesses understand these GST InvoiceNow requirements and how to prepare their systems and workflows accordingly.

Roadmap for the GST InvoiceNow Requirement

All GST-registered businesses will soon be required to transmit invoice data to IRAS using InvoiceNow-Ready Solutions via the InvoiceNow network.

Further details will be announced by IMDA to progressively extend mandatory participation to new compulsory GST registrants and the remaining GST-registered businesses.

1 May 2025 (Soft Launch)
All GST-registered businesses who want a head start can begin to submit invoice data to IRAS using InvoiceNow-Ready Solutions.
1 November 2025

Newly incorporated companies that voluntarily apply for GST registration are required to send invoice data to IRAS using InvoiceNow-Ready Solutions.

1 April 2026

All new voluntary GST registrants are required to start submitting invoice data to IRAS using InvoiceNow-Ready Solutions.

How InvoiceNow Works

From Standard E-Invoicing to GST InvoiceNow Reporting

InvoiceNow is built on the Peppol e-invoicing model, where invoices move securely from supplier to buyer through certified network providers — instead of being sent as PDFs or emails.

In the standard four-corner model, invoice data travels system-to-system through Peppol Access Points. This removes manual re-entry and allows structured invoice data to flow directly between both parties’ accounting systems.

Under GST InvoiceNow requirements, the model extends to a five-corner flow. In addition to reaching the buyer, structured invoice data is also transmitted through InvoiceNow-Ready solutions to IRAS for GST reporting purposes.

This extended flow enables:

  • Structured invoice data submission
  • Reduced manual GST reporting work
  • Better data accuracy
  • Faster validation and review
  • More consistent compliance processes
Peppol PINT & InvoiceNow Standards Alignment

cbs Corporate Business Solutions is aligning our InvoiceNow enablement capabilities with emerging Peppol International (PINT) standards to support broader interoperability and cross-border e-invoicing readiness.

While Singapore InvoiceNow adoption focuses on domestic structured invoice exchange and GST reporting, PINT developments support future international invoice compatibility across Peppol jurisdictions.

For medium and large enterprises, standards alignment helps ensure that InvoiceNow investments remain scalable, interoperable, and future-ready.

Key Invoice & GST Reporting Challenges for Businesses

As invoice volumes grow and GST reporting requirements evolve, many organisations find their current invoicing and data submission processes difficult to scale reliably. Fragmented systems and manual controls can create cost, risk, and operational bottlenecks across the business.

Fragmented Invoicing Across Business Partners
Businesses often deal with multiple invoice formats, customer portals, and submission channels across clients, suppliers, and government entities. This lack of standardisation increases coordination complexity and reduces process consistency across the organisation.
Limited Scalability of Manual Processes
Manual invoice handling and data extraction workflows may function at low volumes but become inefficient and error-prone as transaction scale increases — requiring additional headcount and controls.
Data Accuracy and Control Risks
When invoice data is manually entered or transferred between systems, the risk of inaccuracies, mismatches, and incomplete records increases — affecting reporting quality and downstream reconciliation.
Why is Data Governance Essential for SAP Data Intelligence Success
Compliance and Reporting Exposure
GST reporting and audit checks often require structured, traceable invoice data. Businesses relying on unstructured invoice formats and manual preparation face higher compliance effort and review risk.
Operational Dependency on Individuals
Manual routing, mailbox monitoring, and exception handling frequently depend on specific staff members — creating continuity risk during absences or turnover.
Limited End-to-End Visibility
Without structured system-to-system invoice exchange, organisations may lack real-time visibility into invoice status, delivery confirmation, and processing timelines across entities.

InvoiceNow Benefits for Businesses

InvoiceNow enables businesses to move from fragmented, manual invoice handling to structured, secure, system-to-system e-invoicing. Built on the Peppol standard, it supports more efficient operations, stronger data reliability, and better GST reporting readiness.
Standardises Invoicing Across Business Relationships
InvoiceNow provides a common structured e-invoicing framework for transactions with customers, suppliers, and government entities. Businesses can use a single invoicing approach across multiple trading partners instead of managing different formats and submission channels.
Reduces Manual Processing and Resource Burden
InvoiceNow enables automated invoice data transmission directly between accounting systems. This reduces repeated data entry, lowers processing effort, and minimises manual handling errors
— especially at higher transaction volumes.
Improves Data Accuracy and Transmission Reliability
Invoices are transmitted in structured format through the secure Peppol network rather than through email attachments. This reduces the risk of lost invoices, altered documents, and data mismatches.
Strengthens Data Security and Integrity

Structured system-to-system exchange minimises document tampering risk and improves data integrity controls compared to unstructured invoice files and manual transfers.

Supports GST Reporting and Compliance Processes
With InvoiceNow-Ready solutions, structured invoice data can be transmitted for GST reporting purposes. This helps reduce manual data preparation effort and supports more consistent audit and review processes.
Shortens Review and Audit Preparation Effort

Standardised invoice data improves traceability and validation, helping businesses respond more efficiently to GST checks and compliance reviews.

Improves Operational Visibility

System-level invoice transmission enables better tracking of invoice delivery and receipt status across trading partners, improving process transparency.
