In times of globally distributed supply chains and complex dependencies on suppliers, an optimised supply chain that can be adapted in real time is an important success factor in the manufacturing industry.
Worldwide supply bottlenecks can lead to far-reaching difficulties on the market in a short time. In order to be able to react quickly and agilely to constantly changing challenges, a holistic view of the supply chain, taking into account all parts of the company, is of great importance.
The Demand Planning module in SAP Integrated Business Planning is the solution for all companies that want to optimise their sales planning down to the last detail. In addition to numerous statistical forecasting algorithms, methods for outlier correction and measurement methods for forecast accuracy, additional functions such as time series analyses are also available. You can also take marketing campaigns and product life cycles into account in your sales planning.
In addition to the functionalities known from APO, the Demand Planning module also offers you the possibility of Demand Sensing, with which you can further optimise your sales plan in consideration of current order data.
SAP Integrated Business Planning for Demand is the direct successor to APO-DP, which is only supported until 2027.
The Inventory Optimisation module in SAP Integrated Business Planning enables your company to optimise safety stocks across the supply chain. It also supports you in deciding in which location which quantity of safety stocks must be kept in order to achieve the targeted service level.
For this purpose, IBP uses the so-called “Multi Echelon Optimisation”, which takes into account forecast accuracy, lead times, delivery times and transport times to determine the optimal safety stock levels that minimise costs but also ensure the targeted delivery readiness level.
The Response and Supply module in SAP Integrated Business Planning enables your company to carry out order-based planning. The system creates an optimal replenishment plan taking supply chain restrictions into account. A wide range of restrictions can be taken into account:
The various optimisation methods enable, among other things, a quota allocation of capacities to different customers, a confirmation of customer order deadlines according to predefined rules, an optimised production to ensure the company’s goals as well as the best possible distribution of material quantities to internal as well as external customers.
SAP Integrated Business Planning for Response and Supply is the direct successor to APO-SNP, which is only supported until 2027. At the same time, the module also supports the finite production planning functionalities from APO-PP/DS.
