From reactive ad hoc planning to stable, forward-looking processes.
Many companies still plan their production using Excel lists, in-house developments or rudimentary SAP PP functions. This leads to manual work, a lack of transparency and unreliable processes. Bottlenecks are recognised too late, set-up times are long and delivery dates are uncertain. The result: reactive planning, constant “firefighting” and dissatisfied customers.
With SAP ePP/DS, companies can make the leap from short-term reactions to stable and forward-looking planning.
Capacity bottlenecks become visible at an early stage, orders can be sequenced intelligently and set-up times are reduced thanks to an optimised sequence. The result is reliable processes, greater transparency and significantly higher delivery reliability – without additional machines or personnel.
Greater efficiency thanks to optimised set-up times and better resource utilisation
With automated sequencing and simulation, downtimes are reduced, capacities are better utilised and overall plant efficiency is noticeably improved.
Significantly higher adherence to delivery dates and delivery reliability
Exception-based planning and early detection of bottlenecks ensure that orders are processed reliably and delivery promises are honoured.
Quick start with MVP approach, expandable to full planning excellence
Within six months, an integrated solution is in place that is immediately effective and can be expanded step by step.
Albrecht Jung GmbH & Co. KG was faced with the challenge of outdated planning tools, limited flexibility and high operating costs. With the introduction of SAP S/4HANA and integrated ePP/DS, cbs created an automated, responsive planning environment. The solution reduced manual planning efforts, optimised cross-location sequencing and improved delivery reliability. In addition, setup times were reduced through detailed heuristics and block planning, while material and capacity planning was synchronised across all plants. Result: over 95% planning accuracy, more than 90% resource utilisation and less than 10 rescheduling actions per week.
Mannesmann used the transformation to SAP S/4HANA to fundamentally modernise its production planning. The aim was to introduce future-proof processes and state-of-the-art technology for planning and control.
As part of the project, the existing APO landscape was converted to ePP/DS and the processes in the S/4 transition were optimised. In addition, cbs developed customised alternatives for gATP functionalities and integrated adjacent systems such as EWM, MES and PLM. Thanks to a near-zero downtime migration, the changeover was carried out in a big bang without affecting production.
The result: seamless end-to-end processes with 1:1 functionality, greater planning reliability and a robust basis for future developments.
Pepsi implemented SAP ePP/DS as part of an S/4HANA project to optimise planning processes, increase workflow efficiency and enable customer-specific automation and transparency in production.
Planning was made more efficient with structured workflows using individual profiles. Automated planning steps significantly reduced manual effort. Pepsi also benefits from customised views that create better transparency in day-to-day production.
Complete end-to-end integration into the system landscape has resulted in smooth workflows and greater stability in production processes. Pepsi has thus laid the foundations for future-proof, transparent and highly automated production planning.
